Quilting Workshop: Hand Embroidered Trapunto with Sheena Norquay

Led by exhibiting artist Sheena Norquay, this hands-on workshop teaches trapunto — a hand quilting technique that adds extra wadding behind stitched motifs to create raised, sculptural surfaces. Participants work through a range of decorative embroidery stitches (chain, fly, feather, blanket, herringbone, cross stitch and French knots) before adding background quilting in running stitch, seeding stitch and Turkey Track to build contrast and depth. The finished sample can be developed into a needle case, small pouch or standalone textile piece. Suitable for all skill levels; all materials provided.
