Nuisance Bear

Filmmakers Gabriela Osio Vanden and Jack Weisman expand their award-winning short into a feature set in Churchill, Manitoba, following a polar bear as its ancient migration brings it into contact with tourists, wildlife officers, and hunters. Guided by an Inuit narrator, the film observes bears that are constantly monitored, photographed, and redirected — interrogating how humans manage, commodify, and redefine wildlife. Shot with striking intimacy and scale, *Nuisance Bear* overturns nature documentary conventions, reframing animals not as spectacle but as active agents in a rapidly changing world.
