Mārama

Set in 1859, *Mārama* follows a young Māori woman summoned from New Zealand to North Yorkshire, where she uncovers the truth of her colonial heritage and sets out to destroy the Englishman who devastated her family. The film is grounded in the colonised history of Aotearoa New Zealand and contains disturbing scenes depicting the violation and desecration of Māori culture. Screening as part of Inverness Film Festival at Eden Court, it is rated 15.
