Cauld Blast Orchestra

Cauld Blast Orchestra returns in reborn form, blending folk, jazz, rock, and world music through a 10-piece ensemble carrying the same trailblazing spirit the band built since 1990. The current line-up — Karen Wimhurst (clarinets), Steve Kettley (saxes), Anne Wood (violin), Iain Johnstone (piano, tuba, accordion, tenor horn), Rick Bamford (drums, percussion), Alex Hudson Craufurd (bass), Robin Mason (cello), Andy Cooke (African xylophone, thumb piano, percussion), Gillie O'Flaherty (guitar, mandolin), and Sam Mabbett (melodion) — brings two well-known young Scots trad musicians into the fold. Expect wonky reels, tango, rollicking jazz solos, and poignant airs from a band that has taken its eclectic sound to WOMAD, Celtic Connections, and beyond.
