The programme opens with Wagner's Prelude to Act 1 of *Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg* and the Quintet from Act 3, before three orchestral movements build to the famous choral finale setting Schiller's "Ode to Joy." Soloists Kathrin Lorenzen (soprano), Laura Margaret Smith (mezzo-soprano), Julian Hubbard (tenor), and Renatus Mészár (baritone) are joined by the Mahler Singers, a handpicked chorus drawn from across the north and north-east of Scotland. Recommended for ages 12 and over.
